Vampires are the hottest new thing on the block, and Edward Cullen is top of the pack, so say hellomagazine.com readers.

The newest poll inquires as to which vampire is the sexiest on-screen, and while Twilight 's Robert Pattinson, a.k.a. Edward Cullen currently holds the lead, my plea to Twilight readers is to honor the poll with votes to squelch the others and plummet Robert over the edge, the efforts of which will truly define the loyalty of the Twilight fan.

David Boreanaz, portrayed Angel in Buffy The Vampire Slayer, which aired from 1997 to 1999, then in his own spinoff of his characters name until 2004. David is poised to knock Robert Pattinson from his post at first.

Stephen Moyer, Bill of the sensuous, bloodied True Blood, holds a steady place, far behind, at third.

Rounding out last place is chum Wesley Snipes, who is possibly best known for his portrayal as the easily forgettable Blade.

NEW MOON Teaser2.jpg

Summit, the production-distribution company of Twilight is taunting the saga's enthusiasts. Every tidbit shared by the source generates an instant feeding frenzy among fans.

When  the company released the first 'official' poster for New Moon, fans were instantly in a flurry. The simplicity of yellow words upon a black background gave the new production a reality beyond the pages of the book.

Postulations and prattling about the next piece of eye-candy have only served to torture fans desperate for more news. Admittedly, when I received official word yesterday that the New Moon poster would be in my hot little hands at 4 am I squealed in delight. I preset the coffee pot and calculated my early bedtime in order to get enough beaNew_Moon_Poster(6).jpguty rest and get up in time to be one of the first to see the image.

Then an unfortunate breach in security last night caused a frenzied trail of leaked images across the net. By evening's end, though, with the exception of a sprinkling of leaked posters on some Twilight forums, most websites had ditched the leaked poster in favour of a note asking readers to return in the morning for a peek at the real thing.

So now I'm in the clear to present the first images of Bella Swan, Edward Cullen and Jacob Black in a haunting scene from New Moon.

While Edward Cullen remains at the forefront of the poster, Jacob Black's position between Bella and Edward deliberately gives him prominence. This new presentation of a trio of characters is one more indication of the bittersweet plot of New Moon.

twilight300.jpgIn the wake of Robert Pattinson's 23rd birthday and reprisal of his role as Edward Cullen in New Moon comes a wave of speculation among critics. Has Robert become typecast as a suave romantic lead?

The dreamy-eyed Brit's portrayal of Edward Cullen in teen flick Twilight has roused the libidos of women young and not quite so young around the world. The gasps heard every time he saunters into the cafeteria in his opening scene echo throughout the movie, culminating with his final, anguished kiss with Bella at the prom.

Not one to become caught up in the outpouring of screaming teens, Rob has aligned himself with a variety of roles - a true testament to his desire to submerge himself in the character at hand and not simply a money-making franchise.

He's just signed up to star alongside Aussie Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz in Unbound Captives, a period western set in the 1850s. The independent film marks the directorial and screenwriting debut of Madeline Stowe, best known for The Last Of The Mohicans.

Between stints of filming New Moon and Eclipse, the third film in the Twilight saga, Rob will be occupied on another role - the lead in Remember Me, previously titled Memoirs. The drama mirrors his role as Edward Cullen in focusing on two lovers whose new-found relationship is threatened as they cope with a succession of complicated family tragedies that test their bond.

True Robert Pattinson fans will remember Rob's more awkward, conflicted roles such as the bumbling misfit Art in the recent indie flick How To Be. And there's his melodramatic, flamboyant Salvador Dali in Little Ashes, a role which tests both his acting chops and underscores his security in his sexuality. Though the film's 'conflict' threads were similar to those of Twilight, the steamy sex scene between Dali and Federico Lorca, portrayed by Javier Beltran, turned Rob into the antithesis of the confident, yet virginal Edward Cullen.

With three more Twilight films in the pipeline fans will have their cup filled with the bedroom eyes and tousled hair that define Robert. Beyond those I foresee a clutch of roles he's equipped well beyond his 23 years to tackle. Stay tuned.
