London Fashion Week starts at the end of this week and I am already laying out complete outfits along with bags for each occasion. One can never be too prepared for these events. It is really only twice a year that the fashion elite gather to celebrate our design deities in their natural habitat.
Glossies are our bibles, the runway is our altar. We sit patiently and wait for enlightenment as the lightest human beings float in front of us in silk, cashmere, fur, brocade or chiffon. You wouldn't visit your church or temple in jeans in a t-shirt, having just rolled out of bed with messy hair and smeared mascara. So it is without reservation that I spend a great deal of time and effort mapping out my week, leaving no room for mistakes. I call in friends and favors shamelessly. With everything now available online this is infinitely easier on everyone. My two "go-to" sites are www.net-a-porter.com and www.cultbeauty.co.uk. And this year their suggestions were too good not to share.
Here's my order from Net-A-Porter which will hopefully get me through the week without interruption. This year I have decided to go as simple as possible with the fabric and play hard with the accessories.
Now that you have the clothes down pat let's make sure you have the hair and makeup to back it up...I give you...the makeup bag you can't leave home without. The Cult Beauty girls have informed me that this bag prevents and solves every possible problem. It includes:
Kiss Me Mascara by blinc -
Kiss Me Mascara is the best technical development for eyes since kohl was invented! Perfect for people with sensitive eyes or contact lens wearers, this mascara doesn't flake so you can literally sleep in it and wake up with a clean pillow and under-eye. 3 Custom Color Clarifying Pencil - flesh coloured eye pencil that gets rid of red-rimmed eyes, so much better than those old white ones that just made you look startled. Angelina Jolie's favourite. Frais - a moisturising hand sanitizer that uses sugar alcohol and essential oils, so smells gorgeous, rather than the chemical ones that make you smell like a hospital bathroom. Emergen-C - £15 healthy energy booster, just stick a few sachets in your bag. This stuff is huge in America and I'm pleased as punch I can get it here in the UK on this site! Pommade Divine - 200 year old recipe eases chapped lips, cracked skin and is an excellent moisturiser that will leave your skin naturally replenished and glowing. A fav of Sienna Miller. Batiste Dry Shampoo - A quick spray of this powdery miracle Instantly leaves your hair feeling and looking clean, full of body and smelling beautiful. There will be hundreds of bottles of this behind the scenes at all the shows as you never know what shape the models will turn up in!
