Strike a pose: a pre-wedding shoot and perfect hair

beach-200.jpgNeither Chris nor I have any experience in what it means to be famous.

That's not to say he isn't ruling out the possibility of worldwide recognition - a super-cool rock band could decide a new front man from Hedge End is just what they need - but we can both admit the chances are slim.

We do, however, feel we had a little glimpse into this glamorous world following our pre-wedding photo shoot on the beach.

It was a day of highs; from the first meeting with my hairdresser right through to our time on the shoreline.

And so I will start at the beginning - getting to meet Nathan at the Energy Hair Salon in Exeter.

There are two things to bare in mind - firstly, the last time I saw my wedding dress was back in September (my first fitting isn't until June 1) so I have been focusing on other wedding day details, rather than my 'look'.

And secondly, in an effort to give myself more options, I have been growing my hair; a real love-hate relationship owing to the fact I have used my hair dryer maybe once this year...tut tut.

Anyway, after a chat and some quick flicks of his fingers, Nathan had imagined the most perfect hair style for my wedding - I couldn't have been happier. Of course I am not going to reveal what my hair will look like on the day, a girl has to have her secrets, but its chic, classic and totally complementary of the dress - I could wear it every day.

Feeling considerably more glamorous then when I arrived - three hours in the car does nothing for me - I was ready to join Chris and our photographer Andy Green for the shoot.

After lunch and a catch-up, we found ourselves on the beach; I was feeling maybe a little nervous and totally self-conscious, while Chris on the other hand couldn't wait for his time to shine.

His excitement was further fuelled by the members of the public milling around. Seeing Andy following our every move with his paparazzi-style lens ensured there were a few groups staring in our direction, trying to decipher whether or not we were important. A little insight into how Britney must feel perhaps?!

Before spending Tuesday with Andy, I am not sure I appreciated how important pre-wedding shoots are. Unlike most wedding photographers, Andy has a history in fashion, and is a photographer who occasionally works with brides and grooms.

And, unlike his contemporaries, he won't be giving out strict instructions on the day, so there will be no stage managing on his part, just totally natural, beautiful pictures.

In all we must have been on the beach for about 40 minutes - it flew by. Yes, we felt a little silly at the start, but five minutes in we were completely at ease, which really is a testament to Andy.

Driving to Exeter on Tuesday morning, I didn't know what to expect; I was clueless about my hair, and feeling a little bashful about posing in public. Driving home some eight hours later and it was a different story, because without a doubt two aspects of the big day that I am most looking forward to now are the photos and my wedding day 'look'.
