Oh Zara, my heart goes out to you! How absolutely devastating that after all your hard work, training and preparation, you won't be riding in the Olympics this summer. Disappointed probably doesn't even begin to come close to describing what you're feeling at the moment. With the same thing having happened four years ago, it must make the loss of this year's opportunity even harder to bear. All the more credit to her, therefore, that she's putting on a brave face and adopting a "these things happen" approach, while emphasising the UK still had a strong team.
I have to confess I wouldn't have been half as brave. My response would have been far more self-focused and emotional!
I guess it's unlikely that Toytown will be up for competing in the next Games, but I hope Zara gets to compete in London in 2012 - I'll certainly be keeping my fingers crossed for her.

Does anyone really care if she goes or not?
I really would've liked to see what kind of talent she's got. Not getting much coverage on her in the US, makes it more interesting....plus the royalty aspect. I wanted to see for myself if she held her own with the common folk.
I'd rather see Jordan, could she step in with her pink horsebox?
is it just bad luck though? Is it not a bit suspicious that it happened before the last Olympics?
Yeah, I thought Zara would've switched to another horse rather than drop. I don't understand getting bumped for another horse and rider if your horse blows out? Maybe it's like that with sports car racing too? I dunno?
Yes Bob, Jordan would be a good fill and very amusing.
Well I don't know a great load about horse racing but I know it's not the same as F1. You won't ever see Hamilton dropping out cos his car's faulty - they just get him another.
but I guess the horse has to do as much as the rider really, so if he's not fit, it's no go...
