I take off my hat to Kate Middleton. That girl has incredible self restraint. If I'd been offered an upgrade to first class on a long haul flight you wouldn't have seen me for dust. I'd have been down that aisle before you could say mach two!

Perhaps the thought of being reunited with her Prince on a paradise isle of Mustique made her oblivious to such considerations, but I know temptation would have got the better of me. The thought of all those lovely goodies, not to mention all that extra room...

Whatever her reasons for declining the offer, it was probably a savvy move. If she'd accepted there would no doubt have been those with plenty to say about it.

There's no two ways about it, he may wear make-up, have a hairdo that even he describes as making him look like someone out of an asylum, yet there's still something extremely fanciable about Russell Brand. While he's by no means the type of chap I normally go for - none of my exes wore mascara as far as I know - he's got a wicked sense of humour, buckets of charm and a certain je ne se quoi that makes him utterly fascinating.

Would I be able to take him home to meet mother? Doubtful. But we'd never end up sitting in a restaurant staring at each other, bored and with nothing to say.

Cracking the States will either be a synch or a complete non-starter. Americans seem to love the British sense of humour so perhaps he luck-out and it'll be the former. MTV must be mad to put constraints on his act, though. There's no denying he's often a lot more than just close to the knuckle but, compared to all the gory stuff regularly broadcast on US TV, a little verbal repartee - no mater how naughty - pales to insignificance.

MTV should just let him do his thing, especially as the cheeky rapscallion is probably extra tempted to say something they've banned just because they've warned him off!

I hope these reports about Elizabeth Hurley starring in an on-the-farm reality show turn out to be true! How fantastic would it be to see Miss Glamorous herself ankle-deep in mud and wearing wellies? Should make for must-see TV!

She's usually so elegantly turned-out, but I don't think there's much room for floor-length split-to-the-thigh designer gowns when tending to pigs and sheep. Mind you, I bet she'll still look a million times better than I do after taking Cavalli for muddy winter walkies in the country!

And I would love to be in Lily Allen's shoes today. Her pal Camilla Al Fayed has hooked her up with a discount at Harrods so she can kit out her new pad in style. Wow - imagine how completely gorgeous it's going to be! I hope I can swing an invite to her housewarming party...

So Holly Branson's decided to put medicine on hold to give working at Virgin a try. And why not, I say! Some might say that as a doctor she would have been helping a lot of people, this way she can hopefully help even more patients all over the country by advising on her father's bid to run these new GP polyclinics.

Her father has given her a great opportunity and I'm not surprised she's taken it up. Having made it into med school in the first place Holly's obviously an extremely bright girl and no doubt her hard-working attitude will be an asset to Virgin. Considering she could easily have been distracted by the socialite world of endless parties I'm impressed she knuckled down and got through five tough years of med school.

Her about-turn is also a testament to her strength of character. A lot of youngsters would have been worried about changing tack after going so far down one career route, though it's obviously a big help she's got the support of both parents behind her.

I really think Holly's made the best career move. And I mean, anything that improves the NHS has to be a good thing.

How lovely to hear John Cleese saying such nice things about his new girlfriend Veronica Smiley today! With so many stars tight-lipped when it comes to their love lives, his openness is really refreshing. There's no new film to promote, he just said those nice things because he wanted to share his joy with the world. Makes me feel all warm inside!

And good on him for downplaying people's fascination with the age gap between them. "I'm not sure it matters," is about right I think. There are plenty of flourishing partnerships in celeb land where there's difference. Vivienne Westwood and her partner, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Ivana Trump and her Italian husband, to name just a few...

I hope you and Ms Smiley are very happy together, John!

I can't believe my fave diva Mariah has said she was living in "bleak-land" before she met new hubby Nick Cannon. Surely the multimillionairess' glamorous life is anything but bleak!

She flies her pooch around the world first class, hits the cross trainer in her private gym in stiletto heels and has a glittering, fabulous recording career - not to mention a bevy of A-list pals and constant invites to the glitziest parties in town. Sounds like a fairytale to me!

It's true, though, that a romance can add an extra special sparkle to life - however perfect your life may seem beforehand. And after her unsuccessful first marriage she certainly deserves a bit of luck in the love department. Looks like she's found it in spades.

After seeing the pictures of James Blunt kicking back in the Ibiza sun today I'm now desperate to go on holiday myself. I'd love to be topping up my tan aboard that yacht, sipping cocktails with visiting celebs. It's amazing how popular James seems to be.

Robbie Williams, P Diddy, Jude Law - come to think of it, everyone who's anyone seems to have joined him at some point. Mind you, with a villa on one of the coolest party places on the planet, it's not surprising he's such a centre of attention. I'm just not sure how I seem to have been left out. Come on James, where's my invite!

Until I jet off myself I'll just have to make do with some good TV. And there's plenty of it around at the mo with all these A list stars appearing in small screen shows. I can't wait for Lindsay Lohan's appearance in the next series of Ugly Betty - which is officially the set to be seen on now that serious A-listers like Victoria Beckham and Naomi Campbell have turned up in cameo roles.

When Britney contributed her hilarious turn on How I Met Your Mother the ratings skyrocketed. I wonder if Lindsay will manage to pull off the 'Britters effect', too? I really hope so. This could be the part to help her regain her hot young starlet crown.

I was glad to see Rhys back on form at the Sepentine Gallery party this week. Everyone has a right to have a little mope after the end of a relationship - it must be all the more painful knowing the world is watching you do it.

I've been at the same bashes as the lovely Welshman in the past, and I'm certain he wouldn't mind me saying he's the life and soul of the party. I'm sure he'll have a long line of female admirers lining up now that he's made his return to the social scene.

Meanwhile I can't wait to see what's going to happen in the next chapter of the love life of Rhys' ex, Sienna. Now Balthazar Getty has confirmed he's splitting with his wife, does that lay the way clear for them? They still say they're just friends, I'm not sure I believe that really... Especially after seeing the pictures of them smooching in Italy!

What in heaven's name is Gabriella Irimia's mum talking about? Could she possibly be the most optimistic person on the planet? There's "no reason" why her daughter and Lembit couldn't still get married? Erm, hang on, what about the fact your daughter said "he's not the guy for me"?

Much as I hate to say it, I'm not holding out much hope for a Cheeky and Lembit reunion. Especially since Gabby's spoken out about the breakdown of their relationship. Don't think Lembit will be too impressed about that...

On a more happy note, how lovely to see the pics of Britney today looking so absolutely fabby. She's definitely more like the pop idol Brit I used to copy, dancing around my bedroom with a hairbrush singing Baby One More Time when I was a teenager. Can't wait to see what she does with Madonna!

Oh my goodness, it was just days ago I was holding up Salma and her billionaire fiance's relationship as an example of a successful long distance relationship - now they've called off their engagement! Looks like it's time for me to eat my words (Lori - looks like you were right to have your reservations after all!)

Oh what a shame! I hate being deprived of a celebrity wedding. And I thought they made a really good couple. But Salma's such a level-headed woman, I'm sure they'll be able to maintain a relationship for the sake of their little girl Valentina Paloma.

And what about Kelly flashing her engagement ring? Have to say I saw that one coming. They were apart for, what was it, barely more than a few weeks? Well you know what they say - you don't know what you've got till it's gone. Looks like she really missed him.

But it wasn't long ago that she was announcing to the world that she wants to start a family with Benji - who's the twin brother of Nicole's man Joel, in case anyone's confused by the set-up here. And her figure has been looking a little curvier of late. Could everyone's favourite party girl be ready to settle down?

I know I get pretty excited about celeb baby names in general, but if the news is true I'll be on the edge of my seat waiting to hear what the heiress names her little one. Surely it'll be fabulously over the top - and unique!

Meanwhile, I'm really hoping that Ronnie Wood and his wife Jo are going to be able to work through their problems. They've been married for 23 years - which is centuries in celeb land - so I've got my fingers crossed that everything will turn out fine for them.

  Naomi's thinking about babies? That's something I wasn't expecting! I have this image of her as this ice cool catwalk queen jetting around the world, slinking down catwalks and going to achingly cool parties. Changing nappies just isn't part of the picture somehow!

After seeing those pictures of her cradling the babies in Nigeria, though, I'm inclined to change my mind. She looked like a natural. Although much as I can imagine her with a photogenic baby on her hip, I just can't imagine her with a bump!

Perhaps her motherhood musings have something to do with the new man in her life. Dating a handsome billionaire is likely to have that effect!

Shock horror - Lembit Opik and Gabriella Irima have apparently put their engagement on hold. And I was still waiting for the Cheeky engagement party! I know they might not have been everyone's idea of a match made in heaven, but I was really hoping they'd make it - not just because I'm a true romantic at heart, but because I couldn't wait to see the wedding photos!

I always thought it was really cute that Lembit said he loved Gabbi for who she was and didn't want her to change... Hope they manage to sort it out.

And Emily Blunt, who was so brilliant in The Devil Wears Prada, has split up with her boyfriend, too. Now that really came as a complete surprise. Spending so much time apart was part of the reason given.

I know from experience long distance relationships are downright difficult, but they're not impossible. Just look at Salma Hayek and her billionaire fiancé - they manage perfectly fine - very impressive considering he's based in Paris and she lives in LA!

It didn't take Agyness Deyn any time at all to find herself a new boyfriend after breaking up with Josh, did it? Hardly surprising, mind you - she's hot property at the moment. There must have been a mile-long queue of men wanting to take her out!

And, in typical catwalk queen style, Aggy's new beau is... you guessed it... a rocker. Albert Hammond Jr from The Strokes, no less. What is it with models and boys in bands, though? It's like footballers and glamour models, or pop stars and their dancers. I suppose it's something of a rite of passage for Aggy, who's relatively new to the fame game. I just hope she doesn't go all Kate Moss and end up going out with someone as... extreme, shall we say... as Pete Doherty!

Meanwhile, how excited am I about Will Young's comeback? I've loved him ever since he was on Pop Idol in the days when he confessed the person he'd most like to go out for dinner with was the Queen!

I was miffed to find out today that Rafa's got a girlfriend! When he jumped onto the Centre Court roof to join his family in their seats for a celebratory hug at Wimbledon, there was no lady friend there, so I assumed he was single. Turns out he's been seeing a girl from his home town for three years, but apparently doesn't like her to go to matches as he's worried he might get distracted.

Well after seeing the pics of the pretty lady -Xisca - in her bikini today, I can see why he was worried. She's absolutely stunning!

Pals say they're a really ordinary couple who have no interest in the showbiz life and prefer to hang out locally. Which come to think of it, means he probably wasn't the man for me anyway. It would be completely torturous sitting at home knowing my name was on the guest list for all the best VIP bashes in town, yet not able to go!

I must admit that Lily Allen has totally gone up in my estimation since I heard she's adopted a dog. Sometimes it seems like celebs treat their pets like they're little more than accessories - so it's great to see Lily has clearly given the matter some serious thought before getting herself a furry friend. She made Battersea dogs home her first port of call and has avoided the temptation of going down the familiar eye candy route, choosing instead the mature and slightly plump Honey - who looks a complete sweetie.

Lily's comment about dogs being like their owners did make me laugh. I swear Cavalli has an extra spring in his step when I put on his Gucci dog collar for Sunday afternoon walkies!

I doubt Cavalli and I will cross paths with Lily and her new pet, as they live in Islington, but I just wanted to say congrats on joining the doggy owner club Lily - it's a decision you won't regret!

So the first of the latest round of Hollywood babies have arrived! Nicole and Keith welcomed little Sunday Rose on Monday morning, and now Matthew McConaughey and his model girlfriend have a baby son. I wonder what they'll call him?

With Angelina's twin's due sometime soon, plus Minnie Driver's little one (and plenty of others recently arrived - J Lo's twins, Milla Jovovich's Ever) there's the makings of a pretty special toddler group!

Do you think they'll all hang around together in about 18 years or so? Maybe Christina Aguilera's son Max will collaborate with one of J Lo's youngsters to make a tune? Or will Suri Cruise be dishing out fashion advice to the Beckham boys (or maybe it'll be the other way around?) I can't wait to find out!!!

Well, Wimbledon fortnight has come to an end for another year - and what a fantastic ending it was, too. Yesterday's men's final was epic! And I have to confess that I was secretly rooting for Rafa. Roger has won four years on the trot, it was time for somebody else to get a look in.

So when he emerged victorious I was over the moon. As was he! Did you see him leap onto the roof to celebrate with his family? I can't believe he had any energy left to lift that massive trophy, never mind display those sorts of acrobatics.

It's certainly been a good summer for Spaniards in sports. First the football, now the tennis. When will it be the UK's turn, that's what I want to know!

And I'm very excited the Osbournes are going to be back on our screens with this new variety show. They're always so brilliant to watch, you just never know what they're going to do or say next. Maybe Kelly can rope her new boyfriend Luke in, too. They make such a fab couple and it'd be great to see how he interacts with the rest of the clan. I wonder if he's as eccentric as they are?

How sweet to see the pictures of the successful first meeting between Kelly's new fella and mum Sharon Osbourne today. I know Sharon's famously hard to please, but I'm not surprised it went so well. After all, she's just like any other mum in that she wants her daughter to be happy. And Luke is clearly ticking all the right boxes in that department!

I'm a bit surprised Kelly's already thinking about marriage though as she's only been with him for a couple of months! I know they've been pals for over a year, but surely it's too early to be considering wedding bells already. Maybe she just wants to make the strength of her feeling for him clear...

It's lovely to see that things are clearly going well for them, however. And while I'm not usually into couple-coordinated outfits, those matching purple and yellow Ray-Ban shades were kind of cute!

So are Lily Allen and her ex Ed Simmons getting back together? There's nothing like a bit of reminiscing to rekindle an old romance, is there? They first got together at last year's Glastonbury festival so there's a certain equilibrium to the fact they were inseparable again at this year's musical mud-fest. The memories of those heady first days in wellies must have come flooding back. They certainly seem to have spent a lot of time together since then. I really hope they can work things out. Lily deserves some good luck!

Like probably half the rest of the world I was expecting Angelina's babies to make their entrance earlier than the August due date that had been touted. So when I heard Angelina Jolie's French obstetrician was holding a press conference, I got all over-excited.

Surely, this meant the twins had arrived? But no. Apparently Ange is resting up in a Nice clinic and the babies are still a few weeks away from touchdown. Meanwhile perfect partner Brad has been paying regular visits with the other four kids in tow. I can't believe they're going to have six children! They'll certainly have their work cut out for them. I can barely keep up with Cavalli!

Meanwhile, congratulations to Naomi Watts, who's pregnant again. Is there no end to the Hollywood baby boom?!

Hi everyone, I'm making this a quickie today as I'm writing this on my Blackberry direct from Wimbledon! I was lucky enough to get tickets for Andy Murray's clash with Rafael Nadal - I'm so excited I don't know what to do with myself!!!

Despite the rain, the atmosphere is just electric down here - the general consensus seems to be that the plucky Scot is in with a chance! Whatever happens I intend to cheer my heart out for our golden boy - he's done so well to get this far.

Right I must go - just enough time to go grab myself some strawberries and cream then I'm off to take my seat on Centre Court. Fingers crossed I'll be able to write an update later with news of Andy's victory!

I'm really not sure about Cindy Crawford's home range. It's not that I don't like it (for curiosity's sake I had a peek at her website and some of it's quite nice) it's just a weird concept that the same person whose fitness video I used to follow religiously should be kitting out my pad.

I've seen pictures of Cindy's lovely beach house, and yes, it is stunning. But does that really make her qualified to design furniture?

I don't know - maybe I should be applauding her for stepping outside the usual model-turned-businesswoman realms of make-up and underwear. But then again I just can't imagine telling someone who compliments me on my new sofa that it's by Cindy Crawford!

It's the same with celeb perfumes for me. Much as I love J Lo and Britney I feel a bit funny about smelling like them!
