When Carol Vorderman announced she was leaving Countdown, I almost felt as if the day would never come - a case of my wishful thinking. Now, though, I just can't help but feel sad knowing she has already filmed her last episode and we're only a matter of weeks away from when she stops appearing on our screens solving those tough maths problems.

I've always enjoyed testing my knowledge watching the show on lazy afternoons and Carol has been one of the factors that have made it so entertaining. With her brains, beauty and cool demeanour, it's no surprise she's been a hit with audiences and I have no doubt she'll be back doing something else on our TVs before too long.

I guess the real question now is who are they going to replace her with? Especially as the candidate will have to be both drop-dead gorgeous and a maths whizz. Whoever it is, they'll certainly have some big shoes to fill!
