obama-stevie1-b.jpgTop marks to Barack Obama - he's the man! Take his Wednesday schedule for example - starts off by drafting in R&B star Usher for a conference on community service (cool) then hosts a tribute concert for Stevie Wonder at the White House (even cooler!). Bet he has no problem attracting the younger vote.

And I loved how he credits Stevie with helping him get together with Michelle. It's so true that a shared love of music can be part of the foundations of a successful romance. I remember my horror when a guy I was dating told me he didn't really like listening to music. Can you imagine? Safe to say that one didn't really pan out!

posh-party-b.jpgUnless Victoria Beckham is plugging herself into a charger every night I have no idea how she's maintaining her current hectic lifestyle.

For starters it's hard to keep up with her trips across the Atlantic, as she jets between Milan, London and LA.

And if it gets confusing just reading the reports, imagine how Posh must feel. Factor in jet lag, changing time zones, catching up on the kids and keeping in touch with a husband in another country, and it's a wonder she can even get out of bed in the morning! I'd need a month under the duvet to even begin to recover...

She's also had the recent stress of unveiling her second fashion collection in New York. There was a lot riding on how the designs were received, and with the often sceptical eyes of the media looking on, it must have been particularly nerve-wracking.

And all of that is in addition being a mum to three boys aged nine to four! While she undoubtedly has help with the kids, she still manages to maintain a happy home without her other half and keep up a busy career. That's one talented lady - and one who's probably also a little tired!

tiger-b.jpgIf you're not an animal lover or pet owner (though I find it hard to believe, there are such people in the world), you might not have been reduced to coo-ing and ahh-ing on the same scale I did over the adorable pics of Tiger Woods and his family.

I totally get where the gold ace was coming from in choosing to include his two pooches in the portrait, too. If he's anything like me, he - and his wife - love those dogs to pieces, and consider them fully fledged members of the clan.

Dogs are always there when you need a cuddle, they never complain, they never criticise, and they're always on hand for all the big occasions, like birthdays, Christmas and births.

Life is undeniably better when you know you've got a waggy tail waiting at home to welcome you.

jackson-auction1-b.jpgMichael Jackson seems to fallen prey to the 'Marmite affect', with people divided into love him or hate him camps.

Whichever category he falls into as far you're concerned there's no denying his musical contribution an integral part of modern musical history. So the April auction of his belongings is bound to raise lots of cash.
The big question is, who will the buyers be? I hope his loyal fans walk away with the top lots, rather than collectors hoping to make a good investment... but judging by some of the estimates they are going to need very large wallets indeed. I have to admit I'm not really tempted, but I would like to know where those huge Neverland Ranch gates end up.

What can I say; I hate February 14.

I know I should be tripping around in a rose-tinted haze, contemplating the sack-loads of cards set to cascade through my letter box tomorrow morning. Except that they won't. Realistically all I can expect is one from my mum. And that's sadder than sad as she only sends it because she feels sorry for me. How mortifying is that!?

I'm not saying I'm without admirers, but I suspect that the best I can hope for is the odd e-card. And somehow that's just not the same.

I've even contemplated dispatching a couple of copies of Love Letters Of Great Men (I know the book didn't really exist when Sarah Jessica Parker started reading it in Sex And The City, but Macmillan recognised a good concept when it saw one and has published a real version) .

poshbecks-1b.jpgWhich is why David Beckham has to be my Valentine's hero. He's a shining example to all men of how it should be done. Posh is one lucky lady.

Somehow it always feels like any romance in my life is stage-managed - by me! How nice to have a partner who dedicates time, effort and energy to making the day special, and all off his own bat. Even if Victoria doesn't end up staying in Milan tomorrow, I bet they do something special.

Bitter? Twisted? Me? Never! I'm just hoping that, after this rather envious whinge, a certain someone's attention may be drawn to today's post and inspire him to a whole new Valentine's approach...

brangelina-curry-b.jpgWhat a surreal moment in must have been for the staff at the Kensington curry house when Brad and Angelina walked in to eat on Saturday night!

My first question was who do you think made the booking? Somehow I can't imagine "Table for 12 for the Pitt/Jolie party" in the reservation diary. In which case there's a good chance they had no idea who was coming.

And if serving samosas and papadums to the world's most recognised couple wasn't enough, Robert Downey Jr was thrown into the mix alongside regulars Claudia Schiffer and hubby Matthew Vaughn.

So you can imagine where I will be heading next time I fancy a curry. If it's good enough for Brad and Ange...

kate-wildatheart1-b.jpgHaving got up to speed on Kate Moss' latest viewing habits I must admit that I'm touched by the image of the covergirl snuggled up in her PJs on the sofa with Jamie watching Wild At Heart!

With her uber-cool rock 'n' roll reputation, Kate' secret TV pleasure actually makes me warm to her even further. It is comforting to know that even supermodels have a degree of normality in their lives, and just like the rest of us, are not immune to the joys of a cosy Sunday night in and some great British telly.

And she's not the only member of the Primrose Hill set to catch my eye this week. Who could have missed Jude Law in his latest incarnation as a screen transvestite? Brave, brave man! I'd never really thought of him as someone who'd embrace that sort of role - but he certainly looks the part!

tom-jones-1b.jpgWhile I'm too young to have experienced Tom Jones in his red hot heart-throb heyday, I can see his pin up appeal. It's impossible not to when your mum points it out at every opportunity!

And Mum and I are loving his new 'silver fox' look. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with men dying their hair. If it makes them feel good about themselves then why not? We ladies do it after all. But there's something about a guy who's not afraid to go natural. And it certainly worked for George Clooney.

I can't sign off today without mentioning the Oscars. Surprises? Many, many risks? This is shaping up to be the most intriguing ceremony ever. I can't wait to see the new 'story telling' format. I know the saying goes: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it", but there's lots to be gained from shaking things up occasionally, too.
